Hello Nextinationers,

Those who follow me through Social Networks already know that a couple of weeks ago I was in Barcelona. It was not the first time I went but nevertheless it had been many years since the last time.

The main reason for my trip was to go to the B Salon the Travel Brand fair that was organized that weekend in April in Barcelona and of course, I found the perfect excuse to be able to enjoy this beautiful city of Spain again.

Jazz Hotel

This time I stayed at the Jazz Hotel, that I loved for its great location: in the heart of Barcelona, between the “Ensanche” and the Gothic Quarter, 15 minutes walking from the “Casa Batllo” and another 15 minutes from the “Palau de la Musica”. Its location could not be better! It was perfect to move around Barcelona without depending so much on the taxi.

In addition to its location, the room was like an entire apartment in size. It was a corner family room, called “Family Deluxe”, since we were traveling with our 2 year old daughter. The room had four floor to ceiling windows from where the views were incredible.

As for the layout of the room, I can say that the space was very well used. It had a living room and  another room attached to the living room with a very large double bed, which was one of the things that I liked the most. The huge bathroom also had a separate shower and bathtub.

As for the decoration, the room – and the hotel in general – had a modern style with very good taste, minimalist and functional.

By the way, if you travel with children, you must know that this is a “Kid Friendly” hotel and in my case, they put us a baby crib in the room without problems.

Breakfast

When I thought the room was the best thing in the hotel, I was surprised to find a magnificent breakfast. In addition to being all delicious, it was super varied, from a wide selection of sweets and cakes, to various salty options, different types of cheeses and Spanish sausages (Spanish Ham, Chorizo…). Also hot dishes: bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs all accompanied by different types of bread, toast, butter and jam, different types of cereals, tomato with olive oil, yogurt, fruit, and many other things. And of course, they have cava (Catalonian Sparkling wine). Who does not like to have a late breakfast over the weekend and finish the breakfast with a glass of cava or a mimosa (cava + orange juice)?

Personally I am one of those that I like to have a very complete breakfast over the weekend especially if you are going to visit a city and walk a lot, you do not know when you will stop to have lunch etc … This hotel is perfect if you are looking for that. I could say that it is one of the best hotels where I have stayed with one of the best breakfast!

My daughter went crazy for some very cool cookies they have in the breakfast room and she wanted to eat all of them..;)

In addition, on the same floor, you can find the business center, with two computer terminals with free Internet connection available 24 hours a day.

Rooftop bar and Pool

As most of you know, Spain enjoys a privileged climate most of the year, so when I found out that Hotel Jazz also had a swimming pool it seemed even more attractive. And if you go in the months between May and September, you can enjoy it. I think it’s a perfect plan, to be able to go up to the pool to rest a bit after walking for hours in the city, since it is open until 9:00 p.m.

And what was my surprise to know that the hotel also has one of the most fashionable terraces in the city? so if the pool option is not attractive, you can always go up to have a drink and see one of the most beautiful sunsets over the city. It was the perfect icing to put an end to a busy day. This ample space surprises for its magnificent views of Barcelona: from the sea to the Tibidabo and Montjuic mountains.

At dusk, the Jazz Cub is transformed into a cozy Lounge-Bar, a pleasant atmosphere and chill out atmosphere … do not miss its secret, the Cube, a light & sound show. You can enjoy it with a cocktail in hand until 0.00 am.

And as a last thing, the name of the hotel is that because its decoration is based on Jazz music and also some days a week there are Jazz concerts at the Hotel.

“Learning English doesn’t have to be boring” “Learning English doesn’t have to be boring”

Hola Nextinationers,

Hello Nextinationers,
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I´ve traveled almost all over the world. Thanks to my knowledge of English I have been able to move without problems in most countries, since English is the universal language. Now that I am back in Madrid and that we cannot travel due to the pandemic, I am using the English less and less so, I’ve decided to take some online classes at @skyenges , one of the largest academies in Europe.
