I told you everything you can do in Leeds, so here I would like to tell you everything we did in Yorkshire and therefore I recommend you do if visiting this place.
Yorkshire, you mean, York County is the largest extension of England and one of the prettiest. It is located close to the city of York and Leeds and consists of two major national parks: The Dales and the Moors.
How to get there:
We left Leeds and it took about 30 minutes to get to the village of Masham. If you go out from York Tardaréis also about 30 minutes and from Manchester, tardaréis about two and a half hours. In the latter case, it is best that you do night in one of the towns of Yorkshire, becoming this way the perfect getaway weekend.
What to do in Yorkshire?
- Bike Tour: But not on any motorcycle, a Boom Mustang. Those big 3-seater bikes that you see in the typical American films and that, once en route, it seems to teleport to the American desert of Route 66. In fact, this company emerged in 2012 after the owner saw a series called “Billy Connolly Cruising Route 66″ in which a biker crossed Route 66 in a Boom Mustang. Aboard this bike, our driver showed us during the 120 minutes of the circuit, the wonderful scenery of York County, which was beautiful dotted with sheep and the changing colors of autumn. These circuits have an inter-Communicator system on board, so that through headphones, you hear what the driver is explaining the sites you visit and you can also communicate through them with the driver. A more than advisable experience!! They have several tours. More information on its website: http://www.yorkshiretriketours.co.uk/
- Visit the village of Pateley Bridge. A beautiful medieval village full of charm that has served as inspiration to many British writers. You can find out more information here.
- Eat in a typical British pub like the Bay Horse in Masham. Do not miss your homemade soups, always with seasonal products and their sausages.
- Visit a Geneva distillery such as Spirit of Masham, in the village of the same name. It was one of those unique experiences. I have been to wine or cider wineries before but this has been the first time I have visited a distillery. The gentlemen who carry Spirit of Masham were charming and told us all the history of their gin with all the luxury of detail putting even an explanatory video. Next, we visit the cisterns where alcohol is distilled, where the gin is macera and where the bottling and labelling process is carried out. Finally, what caught my attention was the fact that we could create our own gin and even distill it. It was definitely an amazing experience. We were able to choose between several spices, extracts of flowers and seeds, we took the measures that advised for each ingredient, pesándolos, mixing them and, finally, distilling each gin. I could bring a nice souvenir. Here I have (for now) my gin called “Nextination” with the ingredients I chose, based on Citrus notes website: https://corksandcases.com
In short, I find it a Super original plan, spending a few days discovering Leeds, the fashionable city in England and approaching York County.
