Cómo os va? Ya casi estamos dando la bienvenida a junio. Cómo pasa el tiempo!

Muchos de los que venís a Moscú estáis interesados en saber dónde comprar marcas rusas o simplemente queréis ver lo que se lleva o ir de “window shopping” que aquí en Moscú se lleva mucho.

Este post pretende ser una mini guía del shopping en Moscú. Además, hoy os descubro varios sitios de Moscú que son bastante desconocidos, esos “hidden spots” que son los mejores para huir de los sitios turísticos y que sólo puedes saber si: 1. vives en Moscú y 2. lees mi blog 😉

This post aims to be a mini shopping guide for Moscow. Also, today I reveal to you several sites in Moscow that are quite unknown, those “hidden spots” that are the best to escape from the tourist sites and that you can only know if: 1. you live in Moscow and 2. you read my blog;)

Winzavod

Lo que una vez fue una antigua fábrica de cerveza y después, una bodega llamada “Moscú Bavaria”, ahora alberga el corazón de la floreciente escena artística contemporánea de Moscú. Cuatro de las galerías contemporáneas más prestigiosas del país se mudaron allí tan pronto como se abrió el espacio. Hoy en día, es el primer y más grande centro privado de arte contemporáneo en Rusia.

Winzavod también alberga estudios de artistas, un estudio de fotografía, una agencia de publicidad, una tienda de ropa de vanguardia, una escuela de diseño, una tienda de artículos de arte, una librería y un elegante café de arte. Aquí tiene lugar exhibiciones de arte, eventos y clases magistrales, además, puedes ir de compras y después relajarte en el art-café. Winzavod es una visita obligada si sois amantes del arte contemporáneo.

Tips: Es un poco confuso si no leéis cirílico. No sé si lo habrán adaptado para los turistas que vienen este año a Moscú por el Mundial de Fútbol.

What was once an old brewery and then a winery called “Moscow Bavaria” that now houses the heart of Moscow’s burgeoning contemporary art scene. Four of the country’s most prestigious contemporary galleries moved there as soon as space opened. Today, it is the first and largest private center of contemporary art in Russia.

Winzavod also houses artist studios, a photography studio, an advertising agency, a state-of-the-art clothing store, a design school, an art supply store, a bookstore and an elegant art café. Here there are art exhibitions, events and master classes, in addition, you can go shopping and then relax in the art-café. Winzavod is a must if you are lovers of contemporary art.

Tips: Can be a bit confusing if you do not read Cyrillic. I do not know if they have adapted it for the tourists who come to Moscow this year for the World Cup.

ArtPlay

Me ha sorprendido muchísimo que aquí en Moscú está de moda el restaurar zonas industriales que han quedado sin usar y reconvertirlas en sitios de diseño, llenos de graffitis, tiendas de decoración, showrooms, galerías de arte de nuevos artistas, espacios de co-working y con restaurantes y cafés muy cuquis. Os hablaba antes de Winzavod.

Otro de estos sitios es el ArtPlay, una antigua zona industrial, que antes era una fábrica de té y quedó abandonada. La verdad es que cuando la visité, me recordó a Londres, en concreto a la zona de Shoreditch y tenía la sensación de haberme trasladado a otro sitio en sólo un segundo.

ArtPlay une a diseñadores, arquitectos, diseñadores, proveedores y vendedores de mobiliario, iluminación, cerámica y decoración. Hay varios restaurantes y cafés en la zona así como varias galerías y estudios de diseño y showrooms.

La mayoría de los fines de semana se llevan a cabo diferentes eventos, desde mercados de diseño hasta mercados de pulgas, eventos musicales o proyecciones de películas. Los mercados suelen vender ropa, joyas, productos caseros y otras delicias. Mantente atento a su sitio web para asegurarte de que no te pierdas un evento. Os dejo aquí el link para no perderos nada.

I was very surprised that here in Moscow it is fashionable to restore industrial zones that have not been used for a while and to transform them into design sites, full of graffiti, decoration shops, showrooms, art galleries of new artists, co-working spaces and with restaurants and very lovely cafes. Another of these places is the ArtPlay. An old industrial zone, which used to be a tea factory, was abandoned. The truth is that when I visited, it reminded me of London, specifically of the Shoreditch area, and I had the feeling that I had moved to another place in just a second.

ArtPlay unites designers, architects, designers, suppliers and sellers of furniture, lighting, ceramics and decoration. There are several restaurants and cafes in the area as well as several galleries and design studios and showrooms.

Most of the weekends are carried out there different events, from design markets to flea markets, musical events or film screenings. Todo el espacio está decorado con coloridas pinturas y grafittis. Me encanta ese aire industrial que tiene y de diseño recordándome un poco también a ciertos sitios de Berlin. ArtPlay es un imán para los jóvenes, pero también es un lugar ideal para las familias. Además de exhibiciones que los niños disfrutarán, también hay un estudio de arte donde pueden participar en clases de arte, aprender a crear cómics, diseñar camisetas y construir estructuras extravagantes.

Hoy, el espacio expositivo del Design Centre ArtPlay, se trata de tres salas de exposiciones, que albergan regularmente exposiciones de arte contemporáneo, festivales, videoarte, conciertos de música alternativa, actuaciones, proyecciones de películas, conferencias y clases magistrales. En 2011, ArtPlay inauguró dos nuevas salas de exposiciones, que se han convertido en la sede principal de la IV Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de Moscú.

ArtPlay está animado durante el día, pero también por la noche. Rodnya, un popular club de techno se encuentra en ArtPlay y atrae a jóvenes de toda la ciudad. Today, the exhibition space of the Design Center ArtPlay is about three exhibition halls, which regularly host exhibitions of contemporary art, festivals, video art, alternative music concerts, performances, film screenings, lectures and master classes. In 2011, ArtPlay inaugurated two new exhibition halls, which have become the main headquarters of the IV International Contemporary Art Biennial of Moscow.

ArtPlay is animated during the day, but also at night. Rodnya, a popular techno club is on ArtPlay and attracts young people from all over the city. If you like techno, you can not miss the opportunity to spend the night in Rodnya, but even if you do not, you’ll love the peculiar scenery and the breathtaking views of the city.

Flacon

Flacon es como la hermana de ArtPlay y definitivamente vale la pena una visita. Al igual que otros espacios creativos en Moscú, Flacon fue una vez una fábrica de vidrio, que finalmente fue abandonada. La fábrica solía producir botellas de perfume, pero después de caer en desuso, el empresario Nikolai Matuszewski se hizo cargo de las instalaciones. En el 2009 después de una remodelación, este área se conviertió en toda una plataforma para el diseño, los medios de comunicación así como la moda y las nuevas artesanías. Con oficinas tipo loft, puedes encontrar desde agencias de publicidad y eventos, estudios de diseño, galerías de arte o showrooms de diseñadores independientes.

También tiene pequeñas boutiques de venta de ropa y accesorios de diseñadores locales, cafesterías y restaurantes. Aquí se celebran conferencias, películas, exposiciones, talleres de arte,presentaciones y fiestas e incluso en verano ponen en la zona una pequeña piscina y una pista de voleibol con arena artificial. Como curiosidad, aquí encontrareis la tienda de ropa de Anna Chapman. Esta ex-espía rusa convertida en sex symbol pasó a la fama cuando fue parte de un intercambio de espías entre los Estados Unidos y Rusia en el 2010.

Flacon is like the sister of ArtPlay and definitely worth a visit. Like other creative spaces in Moscow, Flacon was once a glass factory, which was eventually abandoned. The factory used to produce bottles of perfume, but after falling into disuse, the businessman Nikolai Matuszewski took over the facilities. In 2009, after a remodeling, this area became a platform for design, media, fashion and new crafts. With loft-type offices you can find from advertising agencies and events, design studios, art galleries or showrooms of independent designers.

It also has small boutiques selling clothing and accessories by local designers, cafes and restaurants. Here conferences, films, exhibitions, art workshops, presentations and parties are held and even in summer they put in the area a small pool and a volleyball court with artificial sand. As a curiosity, here at Flacon is located the boutique shop of Anna Chapman. The ex-spy turned into a sex symbol jumped to the fame in 2010 after a very dramatic spy swap between the USA and Russia.

Red Octubre / Red October

Es una de las zonas que más me gustan de Moscú, tanto en inverno como en verano. Se llama así “Octubre Rojo” por ser el nombre de una de las fábricas de chocolate de Moscú ubicada hace años aquí. Fundada por un empresario alemán, el famoso edificio de ladrillo rojo situado frente a la catedral de San Salvador fue ampliado, y se le añadieron viviendas para los trabajadores y edificios administrativos. Pronto se convirtió en todo un icono de Moscú, con su aroma a chocolate extendiéndose por el centro de la capital. La empresa fue designada proveedor oficial de la familia imperial.

Tras la revolución, los comunistas expropiaron la fábrica y en 1922 le dieron su nuevo nombre. A pesar de ello, la empresa continuó su desarrollo e incluso sobrevivió a la demolición de su vecina catedral. Se convirtió en un importante proveedor del Ejército Rojo y, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, sus chocolates formaban parte de las raciones de combate de los soldados, pilotos y submarinistas soviéticos.

Octubre Rojo siguió creciendo a tal ritmo que en 2007 su producción tuvo que ser trasladada a un nuevo emplazamiento, lejos del centro. Fue entonces cuando se decidió rehabilitar la antigua zona donde esta se situaba.

Actualmente es una de las zonas de diseño de la ciudad, cuenta con varios showrooms, con un el Instituto de Arquitectura y Diseño Strelka o el Centro de Fotografía Hermanos Lumière. Las personas de negocios que anden a la búsqueda de un lugar de trabajo debería pensar en unirse a Digital October, espacio de coworking que ofrece la posibilidad de contar con salas de reuniones, un moderno restaurante y mucho más, a precios individuales o de empresa (a partir de 230 dólares).

It is one of the areas that I like the most in Moscow, both winter and summer. It is called “Red October” because it is the name of one of the Moscow chocolate factories located here years ago. Founded by a German businessman, the famous red-brick building in front of the Cathedral of San Salvador was enlarged, and housing for workers and administrative buildings was added. Soon it became an icon of Moscow, with its chocolate aroma spreading through the center of the capital. The company was designated official supplier of the imperial family.

After the revolution, the communists expropriated the factory and in 1922 gave it its new name. Despite this, the company continued its development and even survived the demolition of its neighboring cathedral. It became a major supplier to the Red Army and, during World War II, its chocolates were part of the combat rations of Soviet soldiers, pilots and submariners.

Red October continued to grow at such a pace that in 2007 its production had to be moved to a new location, far from the center. It was then when it was decided to rehabilitate the old area where it was located.

Currently it is one of the design areas of the city, it has several showrooms, with a Strelka Institute of Architecture and Design or the Brothers Lumière Photography Center. También se encuentran aquí numerosos estudios, galerías de arte, cafés, restaurante y terrazas y clubes nocturnos de moda.

Os recomiendo el Bar Strelka, donde se encuentra el….En invierno su interior es de lo más acogedor y es el lugar ideal para entrar en calor después de atravesar el puente del Patriarshy y en verano es uno de los sitios más cool de Moscú para tomar algo en su terraza del tejado con vistas a la Catedral del Salvador y al punte y ver uno de los atardeceres más bonitos.

Otro de los cafés que os recomiendo es el que se encuentra dentro de la Sala de Fotografía Lumiere. Súper acogedor y tranquilo. Y de restaurantes os recomiendo el Primitivo. Para salir por la noche está el Gipsy. Cuando hace buen tiempo, cuenta con la terraza más popular de la isla. A lo largo del año, la planta de abajo tiene un ambiente más pop, mientras que en los niveles superiores predomina el house y el techno-heavy. También puedes ir al atardecer a tomar una copa y unos snacks.

Para salir por la noche se puede ir al Rolling Stone Bar, justo al lado del Gipsy, donde hay una gran variedad de edades y estilos. Las paredes del local están cubiertas por revistas del mismo nombre, aunque normalmente la cantidad de gente y el humo impiden verlas. El DJ de este local prefiere el rock al techno.
